Damien Gafforini AMHSW,
BSci (Psych), Post Grad Dip Psych, Grad Dip child psychotherapy studies, MSocSci, MSW.
Damien has over 15 years of counselling experience, working within the Children, Youth and Families Sector. He has worked with a range of clients presenting with varying levels of complexity including those who have suffered significant trauma. Damien holds degree’s in Psychology, Social Work and Child Psychotherapy. He is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides Medicare-subsidized services in order to make counselling support for families or individuals more affordable. Damien is also currently a contractor with Open Arms (Previously Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service VVCS).
Damien has specific training in several therapeutic modalities (including; Narrative Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma therapy and Family therapy). This is so that Damien is able to offer a holistic approach to healing and recovery and ensure that the client is receiving tailored care.
Damien is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Re-Processing) which is a clinically proven (Damien with his daughter) technique in treating PTSD.
Damien also has advanced training in applying Neurofeedback therapy to children, adolescents and adults.
